Bio:

I started playing drums in 1989. I had an excellent first teacher, Steve Earle of the seminal Cincinnati band The Afghan Whigs. After high school I went to college in Cleveland, where I took lessons from the great Greg Bandy (Pharoah Sanders, Betty Carter, Joe Henderson, et al). He gave me the confidence to, as he put it, “get on the bandstand”. A few years later, I was living in New York City and along with my brother and other good friends from Cincinnati we started a band, The National. The band has been very lucky to play shows all over the world – I am very thankful that I get to play drums on any bandstand. In addition to my work with The National, I have performed or recorded for artists such as Beth Orton, Bob Weir, Bruce Springsteen, Emmylou Harris, Glen Hansard, Martha Wainwright, My Brightest Diamond, Norah Jones, Owen Pallet, and Trey Anastasio.

“The first time I played a C&C kit was in preperation for Death From Above 1979’s reunion shows in 2011. I borrowed the blue acrylic kit from Dave Hamelin (formerly of The Stills, currently of Eight And A Half). I used his kit for rehearsals and for the first few shows and fell in love. It wasn’t long before I called up Jacob and had him make me my own acrylic kit in Coke-Bottle green. This kit slayed. It sounded huge, played incredibly and looked so beautiful. Bio:

I played as a drummer in a handful of bands since I was 12 years old. When I was 21 I met Jesse Keeler and we started playing together in his hardcore band “Femme Fatale”. At first we had two drummers on stage. It was complete drum annihilation. After a couple of years Jesse and I started writing together as Death From Above 1979 where I played drums and sang lead vocals. In late 2005 the band broke up and I started performing and eventually recording under my own name as a solo artist. In 2008 I put out my first solo LP titled “Sebastien Grainger And The Mountains”. It was a rock-centric record, where I played most of the instruments emulating a live band. I toured as lead guitar and vocals with bassist Nick Sewell, guitarist Andrew Scott and drummer Leon Taheny, whom all also contributed to the recording. After touring in support of the record for a couple of years it was time to make some new music and I started to take everything in a new direction. It was around this same time that Jesse and I started talking about playing as Death From Above 1979 again. In 2011 we reunited and toured around the world. By 2013 I released a second solo record, the more pop/synth leaning “Yours To Discover”. I completed this record while in Los Angeles recording Death From Above 1979’s follow up LP “The Physical World”. Death From Above 1979 are currently on tour supporting “The Physical World”.

Bio:

As Rasmus is part of 3 heavy touring groups he has a pretty busy touring schedule. Usually he travels 200-250 days a year and is playing around 150 club and festivals world wide. Some of the major festivals would be: Lowlands, Roskilde, Øya, Reading/Leeds, Melt, Arenal, Paleo, SXSW, Glastonbury, Austin City Limits, Sydney Field Day, Coachella, Bonnaroo and Governors Ball. Bio:

Born in the year of 1963, my Mother got me a set of used blue sparkle Ludwigs when I was 9 years old. In the 70’s we were all blown away by the new Japanese sets coming from Pearl and Tama, but I opted to get a set of Camco because my teacher at the time pointed out how beautifully made the shells were. In the 80’s I got a set of Yamaha because my old Camco set was pretty beat up from touring bars all across the Midwest and Southwest, for some reason I never really liked the bass drum, right around the time I moved to Los Angeles and started playing with Giant Sand my brother in law told me about a 60’s white marine pearl set of Ludwigs for a 150 bucks at a pawn shop in Oklahoma, I told him to get it, he sent it to me and right then and there I was hooked on vintage Ludwigs, that bass drum was so beautiful, I still play that kit sometimes when I sit in with Neko Case, she is safe guarding them, being a drummer herself. So all through the 90’s up until just a few years ago I would drag my vintage kits everywhere I would go and dread the few impossible gigs where I would have to play some monster rental kit that either had zero tone, or too much tone until the fated day when United Airlines smashed my little 20” gold sparkle club date and my heart broke, and I said never again! That’s when I called Jake at C&C, I had read on there website that they were making there own shells, and when I talked to Jake about Luan Poplar Luan shells with reinforcing hoops, I got excited and started dreaming about how I would want my own personal kit built…

Christopher Bear

Bio:

Christopher Bear (born July 19, 1982) is a drummer and multi-instrumentalist member of the Brooklyn-based indie-rock group, Grizzly Bear. Bear joined the group with singer Ed Droste for contributions on their first record, Horn of Plenty. He also contributed to Earl Greyhound’s self-titled EP in 2004.

Jeremiah Green

Bio:

Jeremiah Martin Green (born March 4, 1977) is a founding member and drummer of the indie rock band Modest Mouse. In the mid-1990s, Jeremiah also played with the bands Satisfact (K Records), Red Stars Theory (Touch and Go Records), and Peeved (Distressed Records). He also plays with the band Vells, as well as Psychic Emperor. Both bands play at venues around Seattle and the Pacific Northwest. Jeremiah can speak a little Japanese, as shown on track 6 of Night on the Sun. In 2007, Jeremiah appeared on Graig Markel’s “Via Novella” on the Sonic Boom Label. In May 2008, he released a drum breaks 7” collaboration with Plastiq Phantom under the alias World Gang on the Imputor label.

Adam Christgau graduated with a Jazz degree from SUNY Purchase. He took private lessons there with John Riley and played mostly jazz gigs out of college.
Before touring with Tegan & Sara I spend time out on the road with Sia, Brandon Flowers, Dispatch, Joshua Radin, Greg Holden, and others. Bio:

I come from a very musical family, I started playing music at the age of 5. My first instrument was saxophone, I then moved onto classical piano which I still play, and double bass. I picked up drums when I was about 15, and went on to study performance improvisation on drums at Monash University in Melbourne, Australia. After many years as an improviser/session guy performing mainly jazz around Melbourne, I began touring internationally with Chet Faker in 2011 through to early 2016. Sean Carey is multi-instrumentalist, songwriter, and producer most known for his work with Bon Iver and his own band, S. Carey. He has played drums, keyboards, and sang backing vocals with Bon Iver since its inception in 2007, and received two Grammys in 2012 for his work on Bon Iver, Bon Iver. Carey has released two solo records as S. Carey, All We Grow, and Range of Light, which some have compared to Sufjan Stevens, Talk Talk, and Fleet Foxes.

Andrew Stack is a multi-instrumental composer and producer, best known as one half of the band Wye Oak, and more recently as a touring drummer for the new band EL VY (featuring Matt Berninger of The National) and for his solo project, Joyero. He also works extensively on music for film, television and advertising.

Bio:

Stephanie Bailey is an original member and the drummer for the Texas based psych rock band The Black Angels. Joe Adamik has been playing drums since the fall of 1980 when he took home a rented Ludwig Acrolite snare drum from grade school. Studying at Roosevelt university he became ingrained in the music scene in Chicago in the 1990’s. He was a longstanding member of the band Califone and currently plays with Iron & Wine. Severin Kantereit is the drummer for Germany’s hottest newcomer band AnnenMayKantereit. The members of AnnenMayKantereit all live in Cologne, have been grown up together and write songs about how life and love tear them apart, baffle and inspire them. Bio:

I began drumming at the age of 12, at which point I learned and practiced the drum rudiments on a drum pad for a year before my parents rewarded me with a snare drum; I was then expected to practice on the snare drum for another year until I received my first drum kit. I grew up playing drums in church and eventually joined my first band, Marksmen, later renamed, Tallhart. We started out by playing shows in our local scene of Tampa, FL, and eventually went on to tour throughout the United States, sharing the stage with bands such as Say Anything, Eisley, and Anberlin. We later signed with Rory records, an imprint of Equal Vision Records established by Say Anything’s, Max Bemis, and released our EP, “Bloodlines.” In 2012, I ultimately left the band and was subsequently offered the opportunity to play drums for the band, Say Anything. I have had the honor and privilege of playing with them ever since.

Picking up a pair of sticks at the age of five was an experience that triggered something deep inside Phil. Although he went on to master several other instruments, his overriding passion is still playing drums.

Bio:

I grew up in a small town in the Mojave Desert of California, east of Los Angeles, where life is slow and you have nothing to do but cause problems and pursue what you love. Luckily I got into music at a fairly young age and fell in love with the life style. My first band was called Tygers of Wrath and we played a punk style of music infused with elements of progg and art rock which really allowed me to be creative and have lots of fun. Bio:

I started playing drums after I got kicked out of early musical education at the age of six because of my poorly flute skills. Later I studied drums at “Drummers Focus” institute Marktoberdorf, I was part of the “Pop Kurs Hamburg” and finished my studies at Popakademie Mannheim. Since 2011 I have been heavily touring in Europe as well as the USA besides studio work in Berlin. Mainly I’m the drummer for projects like Mighty Oaks, Max Prosa, David Lemaitre and the drumline “Die Schlagzeugmafia”.

Bio:

Growing up listening to and watching a lot of bands, musicians and drummers I’m mostly self-taught. Playing in bands myself was my musical education! I’ve been with Balthazar since 2007. Along the way I systematically dropped all other bands I played in (Amatorski, Douglas Firs, Sunday Bell Ringers) in order to keep up with the progress we’re making with Balthazar now! Bio:

To serve the cliché: My parents’ record collection led me to start playing the drums when I was ten years old. Early on, Jazz and improvised music caught my interest and I followed these preferences in my own playing, too. Nowadays, however, I feel more at home in song- oriented music. Since 2016 my focus has been Cologne-based indie rock band NEUFUNDLAND, with which I have been touring Germany. In late 2017 we released our debut album.

Martin Windstad has been one of Norway´s most in demand drummers and percussionists for over 15 years. He has played on over 140 albums and toured with a wide variety of the biggest Norwegian artists.
Credits include Bernhoft, Bjørn Eidsvåg, Lisa Nilsson, Odd Nordstoga, Magnet, Vidar Busk, Marit Larsen.

Bio:

Robin Karow is a producer, songwriter and drummer for the band Cosby. Founded in 2013 the electro pop band has been playing tons of shows in 2014/15 and thus been making a name throughout Germany. Their digital released EP debuted #52 on iTunes charts and its single “Boon and Bane” kept on staying in the top 300 airplay charts for over 8 weeks. 2014 Cosby got signed to Warner Chappell and have been picked to be one of the two newcomer bands for the “London Sync Conference”. In 2015 the band has been supported by the TV format “BR Startrampe” and was one of three artist being nominated for German GEMA “Musikautorenpreis”. Also, the band will be performing at the prestigious New Music Award in Berlin.

Bio:

I’ve been playing drums since 1997. From my beginnings in the firemen orchestra to trips into the world of improvisation I’ve been traveling between different musical fields. For some time now I realized that I feel most comfortable in the tasteful world of “Indie” music. Playing creative, effective and simple for the particular song, also with electronic-add ons is my kind of style. That’s why I’ve been working fix with such great bands like “Hundreds” and “Yesterday Shop”. From time to time I also work as a session drummer in the studio.

Bio:

Alexander Lindbäck is the drummer of the indie folk singer-songwriters of Norway. After subbing for The Jayhawks and touring with Grant-Lee Philips, Mark Olson, St Thomas and Norwegian folk rock legends Folque he’s been busy playing with the younger generation of artists: Unnveig Aas, Signe Marie Rustad, Roger Græsberg & Foreningen and The Secret Sound of Dreamwalkers.
